Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Knock. Plain English where possible, legal precision where it matters.

1. Acceptance

By creating a Knock account, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Knock. If you're using Knock on behalf of a company or brokerage, you represent that you have authority to bind it to these Terms.

2. What Knock provides

Knock is software that schedules text messages and forwards them to your iPhone, which sends them from your own wireless line via Apple's Shortcuts app. Knock also stores your contacts, templates, audit log, and account settings. Knock does not operate a bulk-SMS gateway, does not register a 10DLC brand on your behalf, and does not deliver messages itself — your iPhone does.

3. Your account and your obligations

• Accurate info. You provide a real name, real email, and a real US mobile number you control.
• You are the sender. Every text Knock dispatches comes from your phone. You — not Knock — are the legal sender for TCPA, state mini-TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and DNC purposes.
• Consent. You will not text people who haven't agreed to receive texts from you. You confirm consent on each contact in Knock; messages without the consent flag are blocked at send time.
• Opt-outs. When a recipient asks you to stop, you will add them to your Knock blacklist and not send to them again.
• Identification. Your name and brokerage (or company) will appear in messages that are promotional in nature.
• Security. You keep your password and device keys private. You are responsible for activity on your account.

4. Acceptable use

You will not use Knock to:

• Send messages that violate any law, including TCPA, state mini-TCPAs, federal/state DNC rules, CAN-SPAM, or consumer-protection statutes.
• Send harassment, threats, hate speech, sexually explicit content, or content targeting minors.
• Impersonate another person, brokerage, or business.
• Send phishing, financial scams, or messages promoting illegal goods or services.
• Bypass Knock's compliance gates (consent, blacklist, quiet hours, blackout dates, daily limit).
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract other accounts' data.

Violation of acceptable use is grounds for immediate suspension or termination, with or without refund.

5. Trial, subscription, billing

• Trial. New accounts get a free trial period (currently 30 days). No payment method is required to start. After the trial, sends pause until a subscription is started.
• Subscription. Monthly, charged in advance to the payment method on file. Plan prices are listed on the pricing page and may change with 30 days' notice; existing subscribers keep their current price until the next renewal.
• Cancellation. Cancel any time from your account page. Cancellation stops the next renewal; your account stays active through the period you've already paid for.
• Refunds. We don't offer prorated refunds for unused days in a billing period. If we materially break the service and can't fix it, contact us and we'll make it right.
• Taxes. Listed prices are exclusive of taxes that may apply in your jurisdiction.

6. Data ownership

Your contacts, templates, message history, and audit logs are yours. You can export them any time. If you cancel, your data remains accessible for export for 30 days, then is deleted on request or after 12 months of inactivity. Knock claims no rights over the content you upload or schedule.

7. Service availability and disclaimers

Knock is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't guarantee that:

• Every scheduled message will be sent — delivery depends on your iPhone polling Knock and Apple Shortcuts behaving as documented. iOS updates can break automated messaging.
• The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly secure.
• Compliance gates catch every regulatory issue. Knock helps; it doesn't replace your judgment or your legal counsel.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Knock disclaims all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Knock's total liability to you for any claim arising from the service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid to Knock in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD $100. Knock is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost revenue, or lost data, even if advised of the possibility.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Knock, its operators, and its contractors from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from: (a) your use of Knock, (b) messages you scheduled or sent through Knock, (c) your violation of these Terms or any law, or (d) your violation of any third party's rights.

10. Termination

You can close your account any time. We can suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, non-payment, suspected fraud, or any conduct that puts other users or the service at risk. On termination, your right to use Knock ends immediately; data export is available for 30 days unless we've terminated for legal/safety reasons.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced in your dashboard or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Knock after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.
